IMPORTANT – INCERASE OF MEMBERSHIP DUES
By decision of the Supreme Medical Council (Resolution of October 21st, 2022),
starting from January 1st 2023, membership dues increase to 120 PLN per month (basic rate). It was also decided that trainee doctors will contribute half of this amount (60 PLN), and physicians or dentists over 70 years of age will be completely exempt from paying the dues.
The Regional Medical Council in Krakow was against the decision to raise membership dues. Additionally we postulated an exemption from contributions for pensioners and everyone at retirement age, i.e. over 65 years old. After discussing the matter within the Regional Medical Council in Krakow we were not and are not supporters of this whole operation, especially in the current social climate. Moreover, we hoped that our proposals as regards relief and exemptions would be taken into account. Our position on this matter was presented in an official letter to President Jankowski.
Unfortunately, at the same time, another bad decision was made, which had not been given much publicity up to this point. The SMC decided to abolish the scholarship fund and the publishing fund. It must be stressed that needs in terms of grants and scholarships are substantial, which is why the Regional Medical Chamber in Krakow will endeavor to create such a fund for its Members.
Next year, the paper edition of „Gazeta Lekarska” will also cease to reach every physician and dentist. Only three paper editions are expected in the first half of the year. With the exception of doctors over 70 years of age, everyone is to receive only a digital edition (except for the first three editions) unless they specifically declare that they prefer paper to e-mail. Here again the Regional Medical Council in Krakow had no say as regards the final decision. Therefore, we invite our Fellow Doctors to actively participate in the preparation of our next year’s ‘medical self-governmental budget’.
